Period 3 - Staying Afloat Reflection

This is usually one of the favorite projects of the year. So, what did you think about it? What did you like about this project? What didn't you like? Any suggestions as to how to make it better?

I like this project it was fun to see how many pennies our boat could hold. I liked that you gave us everyday in class to finish the project. I also liked that you gave us a challenge to see who's boat could hold the most pennies. What I didnt like about this project was that we had a weight limit. If would be more fun if we had to find out hoe heavy the boat had to be before it sank.

I think that the Staying Afloat project a good way for all of the students including me to open up their brains and use their imagination.

I thought the project was OK. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. I liked not really having guidelines so we could design how we wanted. I dind't like having to use metal. A suggestion would being able to use different materials. The amount of materials you had depended on your recycling.

I thought that this project was really fun. I've never built a boat before and i liked doing it. I didn't like the weight description though, if the limit was a little higher my boat could have been a lot better. Next time, maybe the weight limit could be like 200 grams instead of 150. Otherwise, the project was perfect as is.

I liked this project because it wasn't like a do it once and then it works and you're done, which was really frutrating. But I thouught that the project required a lot of thinking and building mentally and physically (on the boat). What I didn't like was that my boat did not work any of the times for whatever reason, but it was getting me annoyed and frustrated and mad, and it was making me not want to do the project anymore. Luckily I finished, it held 752 pennies (aprox.) and it worked so I was happy.

i think its a good project, i like having to really think about it and how we really have to work to make it right. its not just put to cans together with glue and call it a boat. and it was fun to see who could hold the most pennies. and i cant wait to see what projects are next on the road!

I thought the project was really good. It certainly was more fun that normal school work. It was fun to learn how real boats are designed, made, and engineered. I liked how we could made the boat out of whatever metal materials we wanted which gave a lot of freedom. what I didn't like are the limits on the dimensions and mass.

I liked this project alot. It was fun but also challenging. I liked how it took alot of thinking and building to it. Also I liked how you had to think of ways to improve your boat. I think it was fun the way it was and should stay the same.

I thought this project was really fun! Especilly that i got to work with a friend because usally when I do things by myself I get nervous' but since I had a friend I felt better! Our boat held aut 111 pennines which I totally thought can hold more.I really like how we came up with the boat name the S.S Jolly Rancher and even got to paint it Jolly rancher colors too!

I thought the Staying Afloat project was kind of fun, but challenging at the same time to open our creativity.

i thought this project was fun because it wasnt like other projects where the teacher tells you what to do, you get to choose how you wanted to make your boat. i also liked how everyday in class we got to have time finish the project. what i didnt like about this project was that we had a weight limit and at first our boat went over weight but then we figured out to to fix it.

I thought this project was simple. I liked how everyones boats did't actually look like an actual boat, but they worked like them. I though the different boat designs we very creative.

I thought the project was fun. I liked this project because everyone was determined for their boat to hold the most pennies and win the project. I didn’t like that our boat had a lot of rules we had to follow. For, example it had to be made out of all metal and weigh a certain amount. I think you could make the project better by having the boat made out of materials other then metal. But overall I thought the project was really fun. Paulina A

I think this project was different from other projects because you have to be really creativity by choosing the right materials to use for your boat. I liked that you can create a boat by using your imagination with any metal materials such as soda cans, tin foil, baking tin etc. I didn't like that we couldn't use anything but metal materials like i would of used stria foam for the base of my boat but i couldn't so i used soda cans instead. I really don't have any suggestions, overall i thought it was a good project.

I thought this was definitely the best project we've done so far. I like that we got to use our imaginations and build something with our hands. I wasn't happy that i didn't get to work with a partner just because i didn't get the slip signed, i still dont know why we have to do that.

I thought this project was okay. It would have been easier if we could have used just any materials. I used soup cans, which were hard to puncture to make holes. I didn't really have much other metal materials, our recycling consists of mostly bottles. I liked the contest(whose boat could hold the most pennies,) it motivated a lot of us students. I was okay with the weight limit, but i know that made the project challenging for some other students.

I think this is a very fun hands on project. It was fun to see who could hold the most pennies. I like a little friendly competion. I don't have any dislikes about the project. I also don't have any suggestions either. Can we do others like this?
