There was less air pressure so the bag of Cheetos expanded. This it like the balloon example in class. I have brought Cheetos on the plane and it did the same thing :)

The cheetos bag got really big on the plane. In terms of Boyle's law, the cheetos bag increased volume because the amount of air pressure decreased. The less air pressure there is, the more volume the object has.

Lindsay B said...

In terms of Boyle's Law, the volume increased in the bag as the height increased. The pressure, in turn, decreased. Causing the bag to blow up to its fullest capacity.

In terms of Boyle's Law, the bad of chips got bigger because there was less pressure and more volume. Since there was more volume, the bag was puffy and filled with air.

When there is less air pressure, the bag expands. When there is more air pressure, the bag shrinks.

caitie said...

The bag expanded because there was less pressure up in the air, so that means there is more volume (Boyle's Law). When pressure decreases, volume increases and vice versa.

leoc said...

There was more pressure in the bag than in the air surrounding it. To adjust to the change, the air inside expanded.

Frank Sciacca said...

I thought that was intressting that the bag inflated

Nancy S said...

Because there was less pressure the bag of cheetos got bigger, and expanded.

Nina M said...

because there is a lower amount of air pressure, the air in the Cheetos bag expanded to fill the space in it. As the air pressure decreases, the volume of the Cheetos bag increases

DeanC said...

the bag increased because there is less air on the plane. With less air the more volume there is making it expand.

David B said...

The air pressure outside of the bag decreased so there was more pressure inside the bag than out. the inside pressure pushed harder than the outside pressure, creating an outward net force.

In terms of Boyle's law, there was less air pressure on the plane, so the bag expanded. Then, when you opened the bag, all the pressure was let out and the bag went back to a normal size.

Francesca S said...

There was less pressure and more volume in the bag of Cheetos so it got bigger.

I thought this lab was very cooland i want to try this next time i go on a plane. The air preasure decreased so the air particals in the bag spread out and tryed to escape the bag.

There was less air up in the sky so the Cheetos bag got bigger. I bought a lays chips bag on to a plane and nothing happen.

jordyn F said...

Since there was less pressure around the bag of Cheetos, the bag of Cheetos expanded. When the bag of Cheetos was openned, the pressure inside to bag was released.

Jack Daly said...

when the gas i s greater it makes the pressure goes down. and becaus eof the altitude of the plane in the nbaf the gAS WENT UP SO THE PRESSURE WENT DOWN

Tom G said...

Boyle's law states that as the volume of gas changes so does the pressure. Since you were at a high altitude there was less pressure, the volume inside the bag increased causing it to puff up.

DanE said...

I think hit has to due with the elevation. As the elevation increased, the air molecules in the bag expanded since the volume expanded due to the decrease in pressure.

Giana C. said...

In terms of Boyle's Law, inside of the bag the volume increased due to the decrease in air pressure. This is why the bag was big, and not normal size.

Paulina A said...

Paulina A In terms of Boyle's Law the bag expanded because there is less preasure in the air. When you opened the bag it went back to it's normal size.

Grace E. said...

In terms of Boyle's law since the amount of pressure decreased the volume of the Cheeto bag's volume increased. This caused the Cheeto bag to get so big and blown up with air.

Danny Maclay said...

Since there was less air pressure on the plane then on the ground the bag was able to expand. This is an example of Boyle’s law. It is also like the balloon example from class. I did this once on a plane and it worked.

julia s said...

In terms of Boyle's Law, the cheetos bag air pressure decreased while the volume increased. From the volume being so high, the bag was very puffy and big.

Dylan A said...

When you went up higher in the plane, there was less air pressure. Boyles law says when there is less pressure there is a high volume. Since there was less pressure on the bag the volume of the bag expanded.

Zoe K said...

The higher the plane got, the less air molecules were around, and the air pressure decreased. In accordance with Boyle's law, when the pressure on the bag of chips decreased, the volume of the bag increased. This caused it to inflate.

Alec T. said...

Because of the great altitude you were at, the air pressure in the cabin decreased and gave the air inside the bag more room to expand in volume and equalize with the air in the cabin.

Kaitlyn M. said...

According to Boyle’s law, when pressure decreases, volume increases. This would explain why a bag of chips puffs up on a plane. Since higher altitudes have a lesser amount of pressure, it would allow an object’s, such as a bag of chips, volume to increase when on a plane. Thus, Boyle’s law explains the theory of why a bag of chips expands while on an airplane.

While on the plane the cheetos bag got bigger. It got bigger because of Boyle's law. As the bag increased volume the air pressure decreased.

DillonP said...

The cheetos got bigger because of there being less air pressure. Since there was less air pressure the cheetos got bigger.

RileyH said...

What happened to the bag of Cheetos in terms of Boyle's law is the air pressure decreased as the plane went into the air, which then led the bag to increase its volume.

Nina R. said...

The bag of chips expanded as the pressure decreased (Boyle's Law). As pressure decreases the volume increases and vice versa.

Nick R said...

Since there was less pressure the bag expanded. This also effected the volume which increased.

Derrick W said...

The bag got big on the plane. The bag expanded because there was less air pressure

Keren I said...

Boyle's law states that as the volume of a gas changes, so does the pressure. So, because the volume increased in the bag, the pressure decreased which made the bag get really big and difficult to open.

Noelle G said...

The volume in the bag increased as the plane got higher. The pressure decreased. Boyle's law states that when volume increases pressure decreases. As a result, the cheetos bag expanded. Now only if we could put cheetos in a bag that size...:)

Anonymous said...

At first I didn't kno why it inflated. But then I realixzed the volume increase, so the pressure decreased. I am going to try that next time I go on a plane.

Erika J said...

Boyle's Law states that when volume increases, there is less pressure. It also states that when there is less volume, there is more pressure. In this case, there was less pressure in the plane, so the volume of the Cheetos bag increased and made it tight and full.

LorenzoR said...

This video was very interesting! The bag inflated like that because the air pressure was more than the pressure outside since they were higher up! This made the bag inflate.

Linda P said...

The gas volume in the bag of chips increased as the air pressure in the plane decreased. Would the bag of chips explode if you brought it into space?

Emily M said...

When on a plane, the air pressure decreases, so that's why the cheeto bag had a big volume. In terms of Boyle's Law, the more volume there is, the less pressure the object has.

Kate C said...

The cheetos bag expanded on the plane. In terms of Boyle's law, the cheetos bag increased its volume because the the air pressure decreased.

Daniel V. said...

The Volume of the cheetos bag increased as the pressure decreased

Gillian D said...

There was less pressure so the volume of the bag increased.

Francesca said...

The less pressure into the bag the greater particles move and the faster they move.

ChristinaS said...

The cheetos bag got really big because, this is like Boyles law because sice the cheeto bag increased volume the air pressure decreased. There was more volume so thebag expanded.

Jack M said...

The lesser air pressure caused the cheetos bag to expand. The bag wanted to decrease the press ure so it increased the volume.

Noelle S said...

The air presure in the bag was more densr than the outside air. So, the bag expanded because it was pushing on the plane air. It's the reverse of the soda can eexperiment.

Anonymous said...

In terms of Boyles law the bag was really puffy and big because it there is less preasure then here is more volume.

Victoria G said...

There was less air pressure on the plane, so it inflated and became puffed up. Cool video.

Drin Q said...

This explains Boyle's Law because the bag was at a very high elevation so its volume increased and the bags pressure decreased causing the bag to blow up and become so "tight."

ThomasB said...

The less pressure an object has the more volume it has. In this case, there was less pressure causing the bag to have more volume and expand.

Anonymous said...

In boyles law it says that the less air pressure the more volume. And there was less air pressure and more volume so the baag expanded.

Sammy F said...

In terms of Boyle's Law, the air pressure decreased on the plane, so the air pressure or particles inside the Cheetos bag expanded or increased. Then, when you opened the Cheetos bag, the particles were let out of the bag. Therefore, the bag decreased back to it's normal size.

AJ C said...

The cheetos bag increades in size because boyles law states when volume is incresed pressere is decreased. since there was more volume the bag puffed up.

Anonymous said...

The bag of chips got really big on the pane because of boyles law. Less air preasure made more volume for the bag to expand.

Ally B. said...

The cheetos bag expanded. In terms of Boyle's law, the bags volume increased as the air pressure decreased. When pressure decreases, volume increases.

GaryD said...

The air pressure on the plane decreased. Boyle's law states that this will cause the volume of the bag to increase. This occured and the bag got very fat.

Frank M said...

The bag of Cheetos increased in volume while the air pressure decreased.

Rebecca D said...

While the Cheetos bag got was on the airplane it got rally big. The Cheetos bag then increased volume because the air pressure decreased. The less pressure there is the more volume the bag has.

Leah M. said...

in terms of Boyle's Law, the bag of chips got bigger (volume increased) because the amount of air pressure increased. Because there is less air pressure the higher you go, the plane had less air pressure while in the air than on the ground.

Brendan D said...

The bag of cheetos had less air pressure in the air so the bag had more room to expand and have more volume. This is like the balloon in the air tight case.

Kaylee F said...

the bag expanded due to the lack of pressure in the air being up that hih on a plane causing the bag to expand. When pressure decreases volume increases and same reversed

carly f said...

The bag got really big and increased in volume. There was less air pressure so thats why there was more volume. I thought it was really cool how that worked.

Jason said...

The volume of the gas increases so the pressure decreases and the bag swells with air -- and this agrees with Boyle's Law.

Simone said...

The bag increased in size because there less pressure and more volume.

Stephen P. said...

The bag expanded because there was less air pressure on the airplane, so the volume inside the Cheatos bag increased and made it expand. Boyle's law says when there is less air pressure volume will increase.

Sam Z said...

In terms of Boyle's law, the bag had more volume because the pressure decreased. It filled with air because of the lower pressure.

Rowan T said...

The cheetos bag got really big on the plane. In terms of Boyle's law, the cheetos bag increased volume because the amount of air pressure decreased. The less air pressure there is, the more volume the object has.

MikeN said...

Since the plane was in the air it was losing air pressure. Since that was happening the bags volume increased making it bigger

Anonymous said...

The cheetos bag puffed up because of the amount of air pressure. Since the air pressure decreased the bag expanded. This is what Boyle's law states.

LeahF said...

The cheetos bag expanded on the plane since there was more pressure. In terms of Boyle's law as the volume of the bag increased, the pressure decreased. As you go on to a plane the pressure starts to decrease, so then the volume had to increase.

Gianna F said...

The bag of cheetos increased in volume because the air pressure had decreased.

Nick M said...

the pressure outside the bag got lower and so the air wanted to escape the bag and go to the lower pressure zone.

CaitlynR said...

As the air pressure decreased the bag increased, but as the air pressure increased the bag will decrease.

Anonymous said...

The bag of Cheetos increased in size because there was less pressure and more volume.

Nina F said...

the cheetos bag expanded. this is because of boyles law. as you go higher on a plane the pressure is less so the volume expands.

rachel said...

When the pressure decreased, the volume of the Cheetos bag increased.

Pete M said...

According to Boyle's law, as the volume in the cheetos bag increased, so did the height of the bag. Then the bag started to blow up a lot just like a balloon because of the decrease in pressure.

JuanA said...

There was less pressure outside the bag and so the bag expanded. The less pressure, the more volume.

Eric P. said...

Boyles Law states that when there is less pressure, volume increases. So since the plane has less pressure because its so high up the bags volume increases.

Diego B said...

The Cheetos bag increased the volume because there was less air pressure outside of the Cheetos bag.
